Can I ask to stop? What if I feel light-headed? Christine encourages you to bring these questions before treatment, not save them for afterwards.
Can I ask you to stop partway through? What happens if I feel light-headed? Does my period, or being pregnant, change anything? Questions like these often occur to people only once they are lying on the table, or on the drive home. They are much more useful asked beforehand.

In Freshwater, Dr Christine Shen, Acupuncturist, genuinely welcomes questions about comfort and decisions. If something affects how you feel about treatment, it belongs in the conversation before needles are used.
Jotting down a few questions before your appointment can make sure nothing is forgotten. You might include:
Christine has undertaken further study in pregnancy and IVF support, so questions in that area are especially welcome. If you are pregnant, she will also encourage you to keep your midwife or doctor informed.
At each visit, mention anything that has changed, such as new medicines, a recent illness, a fall or a change in symptoms. These details may affect what is suitable that day.
No single schedule suits everyone. Christine will talk with you about how often sessions might be useful and how that will be reviewed, rather than assuming a standard course.
It helps to name the symptom that brought you in separately from the change you are hoping for. More ease in a daily task, a clearer idea of the issue, or knowing when to look into another assessment are all valid. Ask when you will both reflect on how acupuncture is going and what might shift the plan.
Keep your list in your bag or phone for the next Freshwater appointment; new questions are always welcome.
